It definitely bores a hole, but it's not perfect. Two 2", 20' long bores 3' under a road took a tremendous amount of physical effort in sandy soil. One hole was bored with plenty of water and the other with very little water. It didn't really seem to make much difference as to hole quality or straightness. I couldn't get a pipe through either. I ended up having to pull a chain through, hook up the pipe on one end and pull it through with the backhoe. The tool did make this method possible for which I am thankful. I would do it again if I had to, but definitely it ain't easy.
